Multi-Gas Detector protects against combustible gas.

Press Release Summary:

Triple Plus+ IR combines user-selected sensors for specific gas hazards with infrared sensor for flammable hydrocarbons. IR unit is unaffected by exposure to poisoning compounds such as silicones, or to extreme hydrocarbon levels. Three options include: unit measuring 0-100% of Lower Explosive Limit, high level version for gas volume from 0-100%, and unit with both sensing ranges. Detector has shock-resistant internal architecture and shatterproof Triax(TM) casing.

Multi-Gas Detector Goes Infrared

Protects against combustible gas in demanding environments

(MILFORD, OH) - A portable multi-gas monitor combats the difficulties of combustible gas monitoring in demanding offshore, petrochemical and marine environments. Triple Plus+ IR from Crowcon combines user-selected sensors for specific gas hazards with a durable infrared (IR) sensor for flammable hydrocarbons. Unlike other combustible gas sensor types, the IR unit is unaffected by exposure to "poisoning" compounds such as silicones, or to extreme hydrocarbon levels.

IR detection also differs from traditional methods in not requiring the presence of oxygen. Consequently, as well as personal protection in regular working environments, the instrument is suitable for purge monitoring (often known as line clearing): when tanks and lines which have held combustible liquids are purged with nitrogen, Triple Plus+ IR can monitor falling hydrocarbon levels from inside and indicate when it is safe to open the vessel to air.

Three options for combustible gas sensing are available. A unit measuring 0-100% of the Lower Explosive Limit (LEL) is suitable for general protection; a high-level version measuring gas volume from 0-100% covers specialist applications like purge monitoring; and for maximum flexibility, both sensor ranges can be incorporated into one unit. For simultaneous monitoring of other gases such as oxygen, hydrogen sulfide and carbon monoxide, up to three additional sensors can be specified (two for units with dual-range combustible gas monitoring).

Triple Plus+ IR has shock-resistant internal architecture and a casing molded from shatterproof Triax(TM). Unusually it also floats, making it easy to recover an instrument which has been dropped in the water.
