R.C. Electronics Introduces New Multi-Function Signal Conditioner

Competitively priced, the Conditioner features multiple voltage and current sources for powering input sensors.

Santa Barbara, CA - September 26, 2006 - R.C. Electronics, a leader in the development, manufacture, and distribution of advanced signal conditioning and data acquisition technologies, announces the new DTX-5492 Multi-Function Signal Conditioner that provides both programmable voltage and current excitation capability in a single four channel module. The combination of voltage and programmable current sources for use with IEPE - type transducers allows multiple transducers to be handled by a single module. The new conditioner is an extension of the R.C. Electronics DTX-5000 Series of signal conditioners. The new low-cost module minimizes cost in dedicated applications and allows selection of multi-function modules when maximum flexibility is required to track varying test configurations.

The DTX-5492 features four individually-programmable voltage sources that can be set from 0.01 volts up to 10.00 volts in 10 millivolt steps; and four individually-programmable current sources that can be set from 0.1 milliamperes to 20 milliamperes in 0.1 ampere steps while maintaining a full 24 volt compliance. In addition, the DTX-5492 has built-in TEDS (Transducer Electronic Data Sheet) capability for ease of setup and error-free calibrations. Programmable bandpass filtering, automated or manual input bias balance, AC/DC input coupling, on board NIST traceable calibration and front panel status monitors are standard features. As with all the DTX-5000 series products, input noise is less than 10 microvolt with full signal bandwidth of 100 kHz. Calibration stability is excellent, 50 parts per million per degree Centigrade.

"The DTX-5000 offers users a very cost-effective signal conditioning and data recording system because the numerous modules make it very flexible," notes Jay Giles, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, R.C. Electronics. "Our customers can reconfigure the system for different applications at a minimum cost and the initial system acquisition cost is one of the lowest in the industry."

R.C. Electronics offers a complete line of signal conditioners and data recorders for applications requiring high accuracy and stability over the 100-kilohertz bandwidth. The DTX-5000 Series of signal conditioning modules include Automated Strain Conditioners, Frequency to Voltage Converters, Linearized Thermocouple Conditioners, and Wideband, High Common Mode Instrumentation Amplifiers.
