Brother Sets New Benchmark with Launch of Colour Laser MFCs and Colour Laser Printers at GITEX 2007

New devices utilize new 'Horizontal 4-colour single pass Tandem Engine', fully developed by Brother Japan

September 8, 2007

Brother Gulf, a global leader in the development and manufacturing of printing, communication and digital imaging products for homes, SOHOs and enterprises, launched today (September 8, 2007) its next generation colour laser MFCs, printers and digital copiers, which are set to make colour laser printing a new standard for the business segment.

Brother's latest colour laser devices - which use the new 'Horizontal 4-colour single pass Tandem Engine', fully developed by Brother Japan - addresses the concerns of the SMB sector, as it primarily focuses on higher print speeds for full colour prints, data security as well as lower purchase and operating costs. Senior level representatives from Brother International Japan and channel partners, present at Gitex 2007, are expected to attend the official product launch to be held on September 10 at Fairmont Hotel, Dubai, and discuss marketing initiatives for the new line.

With the newly patented print engine, Brother's range of machines deliver high quality performance and value with unique security and printing features that allow SMB's to economically use colour laser printing. The MFCs and printers in this selection have a sleek design to address space limitations but are loaded with a host of features such as Lock Colour Usage that restricts colour printing by requiring a password from the user and monochrome and full colour print speeds of up to 20ppm for A4 and 21ppm for letter. Multi-connectivity is ensured with a built-in Ethernet and high-speed USB 2.0 interface, while high yield toners guarantee low print costs for high volume users.

Commenting on the company's new products, Shinji Tada, Managing Director, Brother Gulf, said, "Colour laser is expected to replace monochrome printing among SMB end-users with an increasing demand for professional quality colour laser printing in many business applications. Through intensive research and development, we have manufactured a range of colour laser devices that have been designed to fit the specific needs of the SMB sector in terms of function, security usage control, performance and economy. Business owners have a misconception that colour laser printing is expensive, and we aim to destroy that myth through these new colour laser devices."

Brother's MFC family offers 3-in-1, 5-in-1 and 6-in-1 options and includes the MFC-9440CN that allows users to scan directly into a USB memory device or print from a USB memory device, without the use of a Personal Computer. The colour laser printers (HL-4040CN and HL-4050CDN) boast of colour print resolution of up to 2,400x600 dpi, PictBridge, and automatic duplex printing whilst also allowing for monochrome printing when the colour toner has run out. The cost of printing in Black & White is compliant with the printing costs on monochrome laser printers. The cost of printing in full colour is compliant with industry costs for full colour laser prints. Visitors can witness demonstrations of these robust and compact machines at Stand B4 10 at Hall 4 at GITEX 2007, which will be held on September 8-12, 2007 at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Brother's gala dinner on September 10th will bring together its channel partners and authorized distributors from across the region including the UAE, KSA, Iran, Jordan, Syria, Oman, Bahrain, Qatar and Lebanon. Heading Brother's international delegates are Shingo Sekiya, General Manager, Marketing Division, BIC Japan and Daniel Kondoh, Manager, Export Division BIC Japan who will join the top management from Brother Gulf at the launch and during the exhibition.

"Dubai and the entire Middle East are important markets for Brother, and the attendance of representatives from Brother International Japan underscores the growing significance of this region to our overall corporate goals and of GITEX as a powerful platform to launch products to the regional market," concluded Tada.
