SANTA CLARA, Calif., and HONG KONG, Oct. 18 / -- Comba Telecom Systems Holdings Limited ("Comba" or the "Group", Hong Kong stock code: 2342) launched today the world's first 3G multi-carrier power amplifier ("MCPA") for Advanced Wireless Services ("AWS") band. Developed by Comba's R&D center in Santa Clara, California, this new generation MCPA is specifically developed for the United States market with AWS band (1.7GHz/2.1GHz) as its prevalent 3G standard.
Available in 25W and 50W models, Comba's new 3G MCPA for AWS band boasts the highest power density in the world among products of its kind, and is also compatible with HSDPA and 1xEVDO standards. MCPA enables amplification and integration of multiple carrier signals into a single antenna on base stations, hence removing the need for multiple antennas of a basestation, MCPAs boost transmission efficiency and help lower operational and maintenance costs.
AWS is the national 3G standard in the US. With the September license auction by the Federal Communications Commission ("FCC") closing with a record US$13.7 billion in net bids for 1,087 3G licenses, it is seen that the new amplifier has tremendous potential in the US 3G market in the future.
