MTS Enhances Set-up Software for Level Plus® Model MG Digital Transmitter

New Set-up Software with advanced features ...

CARY, N.C. (June 19, 2008) - MTS Systems Corp., Sensors Division has updated the free Set-up Software for the Level Plus® Model MG liquid-level transmitter. The updated Set-up Software revision 3.09 or higher offers advanced capabilities when used with the latest model MG firmware. The Set-up Software allows any user to connect the model MG transmitter for Modbus or DDA to a personal computer (PC) using a simple RS485-to-RS232 converter. Once the user is connected via the PC he can set up, calibrate, and/or troubleshoot the transmitter without custom software or additional expensive equipment.

"We've greatly enhanced the features and customization available with the model MG transmitter in the last couple of years, and we wanted to put all the options and capabilities right at our customers' fingertips to allow them to set up digital transmitters specifically for their particular applications," said Lee Aiken, level product marketing manager, MTS.

The enhanced features of the model MG allow for better performance in harsh applications with shock, vibration, fast filling, and/or mixing, especially when detecting both the product level and interface level. By adjusting the enhanced features with support from MTS, the user is able to achieve the desired performance despite the harsh conditions. The ability to adjust key parameters allows one MTS level transmitter to perform in multiple applications without additional costs for extra options.

The model MG digital transmitter satisfies the demand for a digital communication interface in the liquid-level marketplace for vessels from 508mm (20 in.) to 18,288mm (720 in.). Outputs for the model MG include Modbus, DDA (proprietary ASCII protocol), and Foundation Fieldbus. The model MG features 3-in-1 measurement of the product level, interface level, and temperature from a single process opening, eliminating the need for separate level and temperature gauges. Designed for inventory control, the model MG is accurate to at least 1/16th of an inch and can also provide volume measurement from a 100-point strap table that the user loads into the transmitter.

Ideal for process control, bulk storage, and precision inventory control, the MG transmitter features surface-mount technology and a proprietary high-speed signal processing integrated circuit. In addition, the microprocessor firmware features a flexible command interface, high noise rejection capability, built-in test functions, and automatic data error checking.
