MSA Wins 'Best in Show' at National Safety Council Conference

Company's New Fall Protection Device Shines in New Product Showcase

PITTSBURGH - MSA Safety Incorporated (NYSE: MSA) today announced that its new Latchways Leading Edge Self-Retracting Lanyard (SRL) won Best in Show at the 2016 National Safety Council Congress and Expo in Anaheim, Calif.  A fall protection device, the Leading Edge SRL is designed to protect workers should a fall occur off of the edge of a structure.

The Best in Show New Product Showcase Awards provides manufacturers and show exhibitors the opportunity to highlight their newest and most innovative safety products. Only two other firms received Best in Show awards, out of the 120 new and innovative safety products showcased at the conference, which draws more than 14,000 attendees annually.

In late 2015, MSA acquired Latchways plc, a United Kingdom-based provider of innovative fall protection systems and solutions, and instantly doubled its global fall protection business. The move strengthened MSA's position in what is widely considered to be one of the fastest-growing segments of the global safety market.

"On behalf of everyone at MSA, we're honored to be recognized for our innovations in fall protection," said Nish Vartanian, President, MSA Americas.  "Knowing that our products must keep people safe when their lives are on the line is a responsibility we take incredibly serious, and we're committed to continuing to advance the level of protection we provide to workers around the world."
