Sangoma Makes First Shipments of Lync Express Appliance

All-in-one Microsoft Lync Appliance Features Built-in PSTN connectivity; Solution Simplifies Enterprise Unified Communications Deployments

Toronto, Canada - Sangoma Technologies Corporation (TSX VENTURE: STC), a leading provider of hardware and software components that enable or enhance IP Communications Systems for both voice and data, has commenced commercial shipments of its new NetBorder(TM) Lync Express appliance, a standalone solution that simplifies the deployment of the Microsoft Lync unified communications platform. In addition, the new single-box Lync solution is being showcased at the Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference (WPC) in Toronto this week. Lync Express combines Sangoma's Lync-certified NetBorder Express VoIP Gateway with the Lync services platforms in a single server, facilitating quick integration with the PSTN and existing telecommunications equipment and networks.

According to Tom Ray, Sangoma director of North American sales, there has been intense interest in the Lync Express appliance from WPC participants. "The response to Lync Express during the first day of the WPC has been tremendous," noted Ray. "Dozens of visitors to the booth remarked that this simple platform is a perfect fit for deployments of Lync in the SMB and branch office markets and requested pricing or availability information. And the interest has been universal, coming from international attendees hailing from Europe, Asia, Africa and South America."

NetBorder Lync Express is an integrated appliance that provides the core capabilities needed in any Lync deployment and is available worldwide through Sangoma partners and select Microsoft Gold Partners. The solution incorporates the Microsoft Windows 2008 server, Microsoft Lync 2010 server and the Sangoma NetBorder Express VoIP gateway. The stand-alone appliance supports sites of up to approximately100 users and is equipped with one E1/T1/J1 compliant digital telephony span for connection to the PSTN. Lync Express also provides four FXS line connections for any legacy emergency phone or fax requirements.

The Lync Express not only eliminates the need for an external gateway, it also allows for simplified management and configuration for all aspects of the Lync deployment. Sangoma's field-proven auto-detect and quick configuration features inherent in the NetBorder products make this appliance ideal for both enterprise users and service providers looking to facilitate easy Lync installations.

"The response at WPC mirrors the level of excitement and orders we have seen from our channel since announcing Lync Express earlier this month," continued Ray. "This solution really resonates with integrators seeking simple and flexible ways to help businesses leverage the powerful unified communications capabilities enabled by Lync while continuing to get the most value from existing systems and technologies. Sangoma has a long history of connecting the disparate network technologies, protocols, and signaling necessary to easily integrate the all-IP Lync ecosystem with existing TDM- or IP-based PBXs and PSTN connections. The Lync Express appliance is an ideal solution for bridging these different networks and systems in an intuitive and seamless fashion."

Sangoma provides an industry-leading solution portfolio that enables the interworking of a wide variety of disparate TDM and IP networks, clouds, protocols, services, devices, and applications. Its portfolio includes award-winning voice and data boards, transcoding and gateway software, and standalone gateway appliances, designed for simple integration with open source and closed source IP PBX applications, contact centers, unified communications systems and service provider networks.
