MPI Assists Tire Recycler to Keep Its 'Chips' Clean Machinery Ideal for Various Recycling Operations

Highland, MI (January 18, 2010) - Magnetic Products, Inc. (MPI), a worldwide provider of both magnetic and non-magnetic material handling solutions, recently designed, built and shipped a Magnetic Belt Feeder (MBF) to a major U.S. tire recycler.

After being shredded into "chips" during an earlier process, the tire remnants travel along the MBF conveyor. Contaminated chips - those with embedded ferrous contaminant - stick to an integrated magnet pulley located beneath the conveyor belt. Ferrous-free chips drop into a designated hopper located at the end of the conveyor; contaminated pieces are transported to a separate bin via a chute directed under the MBF.

To meet the stringent requirements of the recycling industry, the MBF features proprietary high-strength magnets, ensuring that the most minute pieces of metal are discovered.

Built for an extremely rugged industrial environment, the MBF is constructed with welded steel plate and boasts a direct drive motor with VFD soft start and a maximum speed of 22 feet per minute (FPM). Two access doors on the machinery allow for quick and easy cleaning of the rotor.
