Original Press Release:

Photron's Mega-Pixel FASTCAM Mini AX200 - High-Speed Camera System with the Industries' Highest Light Sensitivity

• The newest high-speed video camera in the FASTCAM Mini AX family features extraordinary light sensitivity of ISO 40,000 monochrome and 16,000 color.

SAN DIEGO, CA – Photron, Inc., (www.photron.com) a global leader and manufacturer of high-speed cameras and image analysis software, introduces the FASTCAM Mini AX200 High Speed Camera System. Providing 1,024 x 1,024 pixel resolution at up to 6,400 frames per second (fps) and up to 900,000 fps at reduced resolution, the compact, high-G camera features remarkable light sensitivity of ISO 40,000 (mono) and ISO 16,000 (color), as measured to the industry’s true ISO Ssat 12232 standard.  Photron’s FASTCAM Mini AX200 is specially designed for demanding automotive, military, and industrial high-speed imaging tasks and for high-frame-rate imaging in critical laboratory applications.

The new camera’s superior light sensitivity enables the video capture of extremely high speed events, without the need for additional lighting packages. It also permits faster frame rates, shorter shutter speeds, and greater depths of field under the same lighting conditions, without added illumination.

With 4 GB, 8 GB, and 16 GB memory options, the FASTCAM Mini AX200 has a high-performance Gigabit Ethernet interface to make it easy to view and analyze the slow motion video data from a desktop or laptop PC. The compact (120 mm (4.7”) H x 120 mm (4.7”) W x 94 mm (3.7”) D, lightweight (1.5 kg / 3.3 lbs.) camera body is designed for high-shock, high-G environments and tested to 100G, 10ms, 6 axes.

Target applications for Photron’s new camera include biomechanics, onboard and offboard automotive safety testing, defense/aerospace research, material sciences, fluid dynamics such as PIV, life sciences, and demanding laboratory research tasks.
