Mott Porous Metal Products for Bioreactors and Fermentors Displayed at Interphex 2008

FARMINGTON, CT, February, 2008 - Mott Corporation will be displaying their porous metal components and devices at Interphex 2008, March 26-28, 2008, at the Philadelphia Convention Center in Booth #830. Mott's porous metal is best known for material characteristics such as strength, precision, efficiency, longevity, and clean-ability or sterilization. These unique attributes allow Mott media to be designed into dozens of applications for the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries. Some specific applications where porous metal is used includes bioreactor/fermentor process gas sparging, vent filtration, steam filtration, steam sparging, and gas-line sterilizing filters.

Mott will be bringing a new 'quick-connect' sparging device to their exhibit, along with a wide variety of other sparging devices and designs. Mott spargers introduce gases into liquids through millions of tiny pores, creating bubbles far smaller and more numerous than with competitive sparging devices. The result is vastly greater mass transfer rates, which reduces the volume or process gas required. Working closely with process engineers, Mott technicians can determine the most suitable media grade and proper configuration by sizing the spargers to the customer's requirements. Specific properties and conditions are taken into account in the design and manufacture of spargers. Flow rate, process temperature, system pressure, and corrosive effects are just a few. Mott also has the capability of incorporating hardware based on the specific application for a perfect fit and easy installation. Mott porous metal spargers and filters for bioreactors and fermentors are desgined to comply with ASME-BPE Specifications as well as cGMP guidelines.

Mott porous metal products are available in corrosion resistant alloys like 316LSS, Nickel, Hastelloy, Titanium and other alloys offering long term resistance to corrosive cleaning agents.
