Motorola Delivers Mobile Multimedia at the Speed of Life with CDMA 1xEV-DO Rev A Solution at CTIA Wireless 2006

Achieves broadband speeds for data transfer and other applications using prototype CDMA 1xEV-DO Rev. A handset

LAS VEGAS, April 4 -- At CTIA Wireless 2006 Motorola Inc. (NYSE:MOT) is demonstrating its end-to-end CDMA 1xEV-DO Rev. A solution and some of the advanced multimedia wireless broadband services that will be possible with this next generation technology with over-the-air calls using a prototype CDMA 1xEV-DO Rev. A handset. CDMA 1xEV-DO Rev. A lets operators make more efficient use of their network resources by enabling advanced voice services and high-speed multimedia content and programming. These new services can help wireless operators earn incremental revenue, reach new user segments and compete with those services offered by other broadband providers.

At the Motorola booth (Central Hall 3, Booth Number 2606) CTIA attendees can test their skills on real-time interactive gaming applications, experience video/audio streaming, and make live Voice over IP (VoIP) and inter-technology video telephony calls connected via Canopy® wireless broadband and 1xEV-DO Rev.A networks routed through the Motorola IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) (referred to as Multimedia Domain (MMD) by the 3GPP2). VoIP and video telephony are among the applications that are optimized for commercial service on a CDMA 1xEV-DO Rev. A network due to the higher bandwidth, lower data latency, and improved quality of service inherent with the technology.

"Motorola's end-to-end CDMA 1xEV-DO Rev A solution, from our radio access network, IMS, Multimedia Services platform, applications and integration services, are an integral part of our innovative broadband access and core solutions that will support converged services," said Bruce Stone, senior vice president, Cellular Networks, Motorola. "Our all-IP CDMA architecture is ready to support Rev. A, and operators with our 1xEV-DO solution can seamlessly migrate existing equipment with hardware and software upgrades, protecting their investment."

CDMA 1xEV-DO Rev. A, with downlink speeds of up to 3.1 Mbps and uplink speeds of up to 1.8 Mbps, is an enhancement to CDMA 1xEV-DO mobile broadband access that combines voice and data on a single carrier, decreasing the burden of operating separate networks for circuit voice and packet data. This not only increases voice capacity, but also enables multiple concurrent data links.

Motorola's CDMA 1xEV-DO Rev. A infrastructure solution is planned for commercial availability in Q4 2006.
