Motorola Announces Integrated Developer Environment and Toolkit to Rapidly Develop and Deploy OCAP(TM) Applications

Motorola's OCAP(TM) Simulator and Software Development Kit allows cable operators and developers to create innovative TV applications

LAS VEGAS, May 7, 2007 // -- Motorola, Inc. (NYSE: MOT) is expected to introduce its OpenCable Applications Platform (OCAP(TM)) Simulator and Software Development Kit (SDK) for cable operators and independent application developers in late 2007. Designed to help enhance the interactivity capabilities of traditional TV, Motorola's OCAP Simulator and Software Development Kit helps enable quicker application development for OCAP compliance, and increased debugging and troubleshooting capabilities.

"Motorola is committed to helping operators and developers bring the television viewing experience to the next level," said Larry Robinson, Vice President, Product Management, Digital Video Solutions, Motorola Connected Home Solutions. "Motorola's collaborative and interactive environment allows cable companies and middleware developers to quickly bring to market the innovative and reliable television applications that consumers demand."

OCAP allows for the creation of new, innovative and interactive applications to enhance the customer experience. This new simulator and SDK helps enable developers to more cost effectively develop new applications for the OCAP environment.

It also allows cable operators and developers to load, run and debug on actual set-tops without the need for a cable headend. This helps enable highly innovative and customized software solutions, which allow cable operators to deliver consumers a more personalized, interactive television experience.

Motorola's OCAP Simulator and Software Development Kit runs on Windows XP SP2, and is planned for general availability in North America in the third quarter of 2007.
