Rockwell Automation Introduces New Reliance® Motor for Mild Nuclear Environments


GREENVILLE, SC (June 24, 2002) Rockwell Automation has introduced a new Reliance motor for mild environments in nuclear facilities. The motor serves as an alternative to existing harsh environment products and has its greatest application potential on pumps, fans, and blowers. It has a 40-year design life for nuclear power generation plants.

The mild environment nuclear motor meets IEEE-334-1994 requirements for mild environment products and is available in a 1E - Safety Related or non-1E classification. The motor features a cast iron construction, including the frame, end brackets and bearing inner caps, as well as zinc-plated hex head hardware, stainless T-drains, and a severe-duty TEFC-XEX enclosure. A Class H insulation system is supplied for extended thermal life. This insulation is suitable for inverters and meets NEMA MG-1 section IV, part 31.40.4.2 (1600 volts). VPI insulation is also available.

The Quality Assurance requirements of lOCFR50, Appendix B, and ISO-9000, are met in the design and manufacture of the mild environment nuclear motor. The mild environment product line is fully supported with the required software and documentation for nuclear applications.

The product is available with a wide range of modifications and accessories.
