Big Features, Small Size, Low Cost

Intelligent Motion System's MDrive line of innovative motor technology, combining high torque stepping motor with on-board drive, introduces its smallest offering yet with the MDrive14. The MDrive14 combines a NEMA size 14 high torque stepping motor with on-board half/full step drive, and measures a mere 1.7" (42mm) long x 1.8" (47mm) high x 1.4" (35mm) wide. The motor and driver combined weigh only 5 ounces.

The MDrive14 offers the system designer a versatile array of features including optically isolated logic inputs which will accept +5 to +24VDC signals, sourcing or sinking. Setup parameters include Motor Resolution, Motor Direction with respect to the direction input, and Run/Hold currents. These settings may be changed on-the-fly or downloaded and stored in non-volatile memory with the use of a simple GUI which is provided, eliminating the need for external switches or resistors. Parameters are changed via an SPI port, and operating voltage ranges from +12 to +48VDC.

The versatile and extremely compact MDrive14 is available in multiple configurations to fit various system needs. These options include a single shaft stand-alone device, or a dual shaft rotary motor with either an optical encoder or a control knob for manual positioning. Interface connections are accomplished using a 12 position keyed and locking pin and receptacle.

The MDrive14 is a small, powerful and inexpensive solution that will reduce system cost, design and assembly time for a large range of stepping motor applications.
