Rockwell Automation Introduction New Reliance® MD60 Microdrive

GREENVILLE, SC (May 17, 2002) The Reliance MD60 microdrive from Rockwell Automation offers a cost-effective, easy-to-use solution for customers seeking a dependable drive for variable speed industrial applications, such as material handling, fans, and pumps.

The MD60 drive offers V/Hz operation from ¼ to 5 HP. The drives are available in 115V AC, 230V AC, and 460V AC ratings. The drive features a built-in LED display and keypad, eliminating the need to add a separate keypad. A finger-safe IP20 enclosure comes standard, with an option to modify with a NEMA 1 kit addition. This kit allows for a conduit connection. The drive also features internal dynamic brake circuitry for use with externally mounted resistors.

With the MD60, start-up is fast and simple. Control keys on the keypad are active out-of-the-box for immediate operation. In addition, the 10 most common parameters are categorized in a basic parameter group to shorten and simplify start-up. Out-of-the-box performance features include good low speed torque generation, constant torque over a 40:1 speed range, and constant horsepower control for output frequencies up to 240Hz. Adjustable features include selectable V/Hz settings, DC braking, auto restart control, preset speed settings, and accel/decel S-curve settings.

The drive provides overload protection at 150% current for one minute and 200% current for three seconds. It features a carrier frequency range from 2-16k Hz and an output frequency from 0-240 Hz. It also has a minimum 500 millisecond power dip ride-through without fault. Built-in protection features provide for under-voltage, over-voltage, motor overload, over-current, ground fault, and drive over-temperature fault detection.

For global compatibility, the product is UL listed for the USA, cUL listed for Canada, C-Tick certified for Australia, CE marked for Europe, and has an input mains filter option for European EMC Directive compliance.
