DR16 Eighth Step Bipolar Step Motor Controller

The Design Resources D.R. Step 16 Bipolar step motor controller is a low cost motor indexer/driver combination that offers stand alone operation. Full, half, quarter, and eighth steps are programmable. Motor current is selectable between .03 and 1.5 amps with motor voltages to 48 volts. Motor current may be reduced or turned off after moves to reduce motor heating. Motor velocities can be greater than 55,000 steps per second with 0.001 steps per second resolution. +/-2,147,483,647 step positioning. Full acceleration and deceleration control is supported. Moves can be absolute, relative, continuous, or alternate. A motor limit input and four general purpose digital inputs and outputs are provided.

Host interface is via a RS-232 serial port. Selectable baud rates of 1200 thru 115,200. Up to 128 controllers can be daisy-chained for coordinated moves using the precise velocity control available. A powerful command language with 26 commands is provided, including for/next loops, subroutines, branch on input and millisecond delays. 404 commands can be recorded and stored in EEPROM. Two axis models are also available. Price of the DR16 in quantities of 100 is $129.
