NEW Parallel-Interface Motion Processor Launched

Lincoln, MA - Performance Motion Devices, Inc. (PMD) introduces a parallel-interface version of their Pilot(TM) Family of Motion Processor chips. Pilot is a single-axis, single chip family of motion processors that provides brushed, brushless, pulse and direction and microstepping motion control. The new Parallel Pilot Motion Processor communicates with the host processor via a bi-directional 16-bit parallel data port. Compared to a typical serial interface of 416 k baud, parallel port communication speeds are up to 6 times faster. The Parallel Pilot is ideal for embedded systems in industrial, semiconductor, medical, scientific and robotic applications.

Chuck Lewin, VP of Marketing at PMD, comments, "We're very pleased to announce this product because we recognize that communication speed is one of the most important factors affecting system performance. In addition, the parallel pilot adds an option for users that do not have an asynchronous serial port available for communication."

Performance Motion Devices, Inc. (PMD), located in Lincoln, MA, is a global leader in the development and advancement of chip-based motion control technology. The Pilot Family of Motion Processors is available directly from PMD. Prices start at $25 in OEM quantities.
