New High-Speed Camera System Provides Extended, High-Resolution and Uncompressed Disk-Based Digital Recording

San Diego, CA - May 30 - Speed Vision Technologies, Inc. today announced the release of its new OmniSpeed LR400 (high-speed long-record) system. This latest addition to the OmniSpeed line of motion imaging systems combines a high-speed (slow motion) camera, with the ability to record directly to high capacity disks in a portable ruggedized housing. The system is easily operated using a high-bright touch screen LCD to access a familiar Windows based GUI. Real time viewing, recording and playback as well as complete camera and system control are provided from a single screen.

The OmniSpeed LR400's camera and housing are compact, rugged and lightweight. Image capture speed ranges from 50 fps up to 400 fps with up to 100 minutes of real time digital recording duration. Improved image quality is obtained with 35 microsecond electronic or utilizing frame sync to an external device. All 640 x 480 pixels are exposed simultaneously to increase picture definition. An optional GPS / IRIG B interface records microsecond timing on each frame in real time and allows multiple cameras to be synchronized together. Systems offer AC or DC operation. Slow motion sequences are instantly played back from the system and are stored in digital OSM, TIFF or AVI formats on fixed or removable hard disks. The images can be uploaded (retrieved) for later review or simply shared via your area network.

"Traditionally there's been a trade off between high speed and long record time in this industry," states Rick Sutherland, Speed Vision's VP of sales and marketing. "Now that barrier has been broken!" The OmniSpeed LR400 is targeted for pulp & paper, factory automation and scientific applications such as flow visualization. The system is designed to capture events that are difficult or impossible, to trigger accurately and / or occur intermittently or in longer duration than typical RAM based Motion Analysis Systems are able to perform. "Once problems occur on the line they need to be seen first in order to be diagnosed and solved," says Speed Vision's President and Founder William Abrahams. Military Range testing including tracking is also ideal for this new long recording technology. "This is not another RAID based system but a unique ultra high-speed high-capacity digital recording technology which provides extraordinary uninterrupted and achievable data recording rates" adds Phil Christensen, Speed Vision's Director of Engineering.

Speed Vision Technologies is a 9-year-old company that emerged from the Product Management and Applications Engineering group at Eastman Kodak's Motion Analysis Systems group in San Diego, CA.
