Motion Controller offer quadrature feedback options.

Press Release Summary:

Motion Controllers in RMC70 Series are offered with QA1 and QA2 quadrature axis modules, which are 1- or 2-axis modules, respectively, that accept incremental encoder feedback and provide ±10 V control for rotary and linear position control applications. Feedback inputs handle A, B, and Z differential RS422 signals from quadrature encoders and feature wire break detection. Each axis includes isolated discrete input, solid state relay output, and bi-color status LEDs.

Delta adds Quadrature Feedback Options to the RMC70 Series Motion Controller

May 5, 2006 - Vancouver, WA - Delta Computer Systems, Inc. announces its new QA1 and QA2 quadrature axis modules for the RMC70 Series Motion Controllers. These one- or two-axis modules accept incremental encoder feedback and provide +/-10V control for rotary and linear position control applications using electric or hydraulic motors and actuators.

Feedback inputs handle A, B and Z differential RS422 signals from quadrature encoders and feature wire break detection. Each axis also features isolated high-speed discrete inputs for registration, home and over-travel limits. In addition, each axis includes an isolated discrete input for drive fault detection, a solid state relay output for drive enable, and bi-color status LEDs with solid green indicating proper functioning and red flashing indicating a fault condition.

"With these new cost-effective QA1 and QA2 axis modules, users can operate drives and amplifiers in their simplest mode while standardizing on the RMC70 in linear and rotary motion control applications." stated Steve Nylund, Delta CEO. "This often reduces long term maintenance costs and avoids product obsolescence all too common with many smart drives." Nylund added.

For more I/O intensive systems, field changeable expansion modules add to the capability and versatility of the RMC70 Series. Up to four modules and four module types, including discrete I/O, analog, pressure/force control and quadrature reference, can be mounted on the side of the base unit. This adds extra functionality to hybrid combinations of electric, hydraulic and pneumatic servo motion control applications.
