Baumuller Introduces High Speed In-Drive PLC
Bloomfield, CT. March 15, 2002. Baumuller America Inc. has introduced the new Omega Drive Line II Motion Control System that integrates a high performance in-drive PLC with a high speed controller for complex and demanding automation applications.
The PLC is capable of processing 100 micro second per 1,000 lines of code, and the controller has a cycle time of 62.5 micro second. The Omega Drive Line II offers a cam profile of 4096 points and resolution of 4 million ppr.
This high performance level is supported by preprogrammed technology software modules for cam, disc, register, winder, gear synchronization, virtual master axis and dancing roller control.
Baumuller's own field bus, CANsync, permits the use of cluster concepts with as many as several hundred axes synchronized within a minimal time frame of 1 ms and with a transfer speed of 1 Mbps. The new system also works effectively with CANopen, SERCOS, Profibus and Ethernet TCP/IP.
Baumuller's programming software, PROPROG, supports all IEC 61131 languages and permits clear project management with Windows.
The new in-drive PLC is being used in diverse automation applications that require speed, accuracy, modularization and synchronous operations.
Baumuller's diverse line of motors, drives and motion control systems is used in industrial automation applications worldwide including machine tools, robotics, packaging, material handling, printing, textile manufacturing, wire production and the manufacturing of semiconductors, plastics, pulp, paper and corrugated materials.
The largest privately owned manufacturer in the world exclusively devoted to the manufacture of motors, drives and systems, Baumuller employs over 1400 people with offices and modern production facilities around the globe. Baumuller America Inc. is headquartered in Bloomfield, Connecticut.
