Motion Control Cards offer MEI XMP-PCI compatibility.
Press Release Summary:
Series VMC-2000 full-length universal slot PCI motion control cards are available with 4 or 8 axes of motion. Each axis features quadrature encoder feedback inputs, optically isolated limit, amplifier fault, and home sensor inputs and amp enable output. Dual 12-bit D/As provide 16 channels of ±10 Vdc analog outputs for servo control or general-purpose use. Configurable RS-422 differential line drivers provide pulse and direction outputs and spare output for each axis.

VMC-2000 Motion Card Offers MEI XMP-PCI Compatibility
TORRANCE, CA - August 31, 2006 - Varedan Technologies (www.varedan.com) is offering an alternative source for MEI customers using the XMP-PCI. With the recently announced end of life for the XMP-PCI card, the VMC-2000 offers drop in replacement pin-for-pin compatibility with the XMP-PCI. The VMC-2000 series motion control cards are functionally compatible with the Motion Engineering Inc. (MEI) XMP-PCI motion controllers and offer a similar software library of commands so current users can continue to use their existing software and application code.
The VMC-2000 series motion controllers are full-length universal slot PCI cards available with either 4 axes (VMC-2400) or 8 axes (VMC-2800) of motion. Each axis features quadrature encoder feedback inputs, optically isolated limit, amplifier fault, and home sensor inputs and an amp enable output. Dual 12-bit D/A's provide 16 channels of ±10vdc analog outputs for either servo control or general-purpose use. Configurable RS-422 differential line drivers provide pulse and direction outputs as well as a spare output for each axis. Eight optically isolated general-purpose I/O pins can be configured by the user's application. A high-speed position capture input can be configured using one of the optically isolated inputs on each axis.
Through the use of high-density VHDCI connectors, the VMC-2000 series allows all connections to be made to the card without the need for running wires and cables inside the PC chassis. Four high-density connectors provide 2 axes of connections each and are pin for pin compatible with the MEI XMP-PCI pin out. Breakout boards are available to provide connections to each signal, or pre-made cables can be purchased from a number of third party vendors.
The included software library routines enable the user to quickly build their motion application code using C/C++. Windows drivers are included for Plug and Play installation on any PC platform. Example programming applications are included and can be used to get the card up and running in a few minutes.
