Most Extensive Drives/Motors Line in the World Exhibited at ABB's Automation & Power World Event

Fractional-to-100,000 HP line-up includes Low Voltage and Medium Voltage product range

Houston, TX - Visitors to ABB's Automation & Power World Event here can see, in a single glance, the deep, extensive range of the company's drives and motors offer to the market.

"It is without peer in the world," notes Cliff Cole, global product portfolio manager for ABB drives. "Our goal with this exhibit is to make it simple for users to see the range of solutions, from fractional to 100,000 HP - and to be able to operate, on the floor, drives controlling motors across a variety of horsepowers and options."

The ABB drives and Baldor motors exhibits take up more than half of the 7,200 square feet that the Discrete Automation and Motion division of ABB reserved in the 130,000 square-feet exhibit hall.

Drives and motors were deliberately positioned to be the first solutions visitors to the area see, with units matched precisely, to make it easy for visitors to understand the range, and where their own needs for equipment, fall within the wide offering.

"The benefits are overwhelming - just in energy savings, alone," Cole noted. "With more than 60 percent of all energy generated being used by motors operating equipment, drives are the single smartest savings choice users in industrial and commercial facilities can make; they put every kilowatt to use, operating motors at the exact speeds loads actually require."

In addition to the drives, motion control solutions are on display, including human-machine interfaces (HMIs), programmable logic controllers (PLC), and safety technology; these extend to multi-axis motion controllers, high-performance servo drives, rotary servo motors and linear motors - all of which seamlessly interface to provide a complete machine solution, notes Cole.

Plus Low Voltage and Medium Voltage NEMA and IEC motors

Alongside the drives, the extensive Baldor product line of NEMA and IEC motors include not only specialty motors such as variable speed, DC, linear, servo and traction, but also generators for the wind industry, as well as industrial gen sets for standby and prime power needs.

The drives/motors products are designed with customer applications and industries in mind, to be energy efficient and have high performance and superior reliability over the lifetime of the motor.
