MOSFET Driver tolerates 100 V transients.

Press Release Summary:

Model LTC4440 N-channel 80 V MOSFET driver, housed in SOT-23 and 8-lead MSOP packages, offers peak pull-up output current of 2.4 A and 1.5 ohm pull-down output impedance. Unit reduces MOSFET gate drive fall and rise times to 7 ns and 10 ns, respectively, when driving 1,000 pF loads. Input logic signal is internally level-shifted to bootstrapped supply, which may function at up to 115 V above ground. Driver is rated for -40 to 85°C ambient temperatures.

Fast 100V MOSFET Driver in ThinSOT

MILPITAS, CA - October 23, 2003 - Linear Technology Corporation introduces the LTC4440, a 100V transient tolerant high-side N-channel MOSFET driver with powerful gate drivers that minimize switching losses in power supplies. Housed in ThinSOT (TM)(SOT-23) and 8-lead MSOP packages, the IC's 80V (100V transient) operation, peak pull-up output current of 2.4A and 1.5Ohm pull-down output impedance make it ideally suited for driving high gate capacitance, high voltage, high current standard threshold MOSFETs. The IC improves the efficiency and output power capability of a DC/DC converter by reducing MOSFET gate drive fall and rise times to 7ns and 10ns, respectively, when driving 1,000pF loads. The LTC4440 improves power supply performance in 48V telecom systems as well as distributed power systems in industrial and automotive applications.

The LTC4440 features supply independent TTL/CMOS compatible input thresholds. The input logic signal is internally level-shifted to the bootstrapped supply, which may function at up to 115V above ground. The IC contains both high side and low side undervoltage lockout circuits that disable and protect the external MOSFET when activated.

The LTC4440 is rated for extended temperature range operation from -40 ûC to 85 ûC ambient. Pricing starts at $1.75 each in 1,000-piece quantities.
