Moog Selects Kavlico's Speed Brake for Incorporation into Cockpit Control System

Moorpark, CA - Kavlico, a global business unit of Custom Sensors & Technologies (CST) has been selected by Moog, Inc. to supply their newest cockpit control device; Kavlico's Speed Brake. Moog was recently selected to supply components for an integrated flight control system for the new Gulfstream G250 Business Jet.
The system to be supplied by Moog will include flight control computers, primary and secondary flight control actuators, high lift system, cockpit sensors, and other miscellaneous components. Kavlico's Speed Brake will be used to provide pilot commands to the spoiler actuator system. The Speed Brake is a robustly designed unit which incorporates 4-channel RVDT position feedback.
Moog anticipates that the first flight of the G250 will be in the second half of 2009, with deliveries commencing in 2011. According to Phil Roessler, Senior Program Manager for Kavlico Aerospace Products, "Our Speed Brake along with a host of other pilot control devices now available from Kavlico increases our portfolio of products offered to the business jet sector. In particular, we will now be supplying not only LVDT and RVDT position sensors but an entire range of Line Replaceable Units (LRUs)."
Other significant Speed Brake product features include: A detent at the stow position, a Foreign Object Debris (FOD) shield designed to prevent the entry of debris, fluids, and dust, and a MTBF of 100,000 predicted fight hours.
