Monolithic Power Systems Solutions Designed in LSI SandForce® SF3700 Flash Controller Family Reference Designs

MPS Provides Optimized Power Solutions for Next-Generation Solid-State Drives (SSD)

SAN JOSE, Calif. – Monolithic Power Systems (MPS) (Nasdaq: MPWR), a leading fabless manufacturer of high-performance analog and mixed-signal semiconductors, announced today its DC-DC regulators, modules, and PMIC solutions support all supply rails in several LSI SandForce® SF3700 flash controller family reference designs. The DC-DC regulators and modules power the controller and flash while the PMICs provide additional protection and reliability to solid-state drives, in case of power failure due to short glitch, input voltage droop, short circuit of the input voltage, or the battery being removed from a portable system.

With a proprietary process technology, MPS delivers high-power density devices with low Rds(on) to achieve high-efficiency, small-solution size, and cost effectiveness. Furthermore, with MPS design topology, the transient response is ultrafast, which is critical in supporting dynamic loading conditions in storage systems. The efficiency, cost, size, performance, and reliability are features that complement the industry's leading-edge flash controllers, such as LSI SandForce SF3700 controller family, and next-generation solid-state drives.

"MPS has many years of collaboration with the LSI SandForce engineering team and has developed leading power solutions that are optimized for LSI SandForce flash controllers. MPS values its partnership with LSI and is excited to be a part of LSI SandForce Trusted™ Program," said Maurice Sciammas, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing, MPS.

"MPS is a dependable supplier who provides innovative, reliable and cost-optimized power solutions to meet the growing challenges in SSD form factor requirements," said Ross Stenfort, Director of Systems and Solutions Architecture, Flash Components Division, LSI.  "MPS' engineering expertise and support has been a great asset for LSI in developing leading solutions and their technology is a key part of our new SF3700 flash controller family reference designs."
