Original Press Release:

Radioscape Launches New Range of Monitoring Receivers For Digital Radio at IBC - Stand 353 Hall 8

London, UK - 6 September 2005 - RadioScape, the world leader in end-to-end Digital Radio solutions, has announced that it will be launching a family of three new additions to its popular range of digital radio field and monitoring receivers at IBC (Amsterdam, 9-13 Sept 2005). These feature enhancements to match the latest developments in DAB multiplexer technology, such as Enhanced Packet Mode (EPM) and Digital Multimedia Broadcasting (DMB), and provide advanced solutions for broadcasters wishing to test and monitor their digital radio networks. The receivers are priced extremely competitively to provide excellent value for money.

DAB/DMB Field Monitoring Receiver
This product combines the functionality of both a DAB receiver and an accurate field strength measurement device in a small portable unit. It can be used in static or mobile trials to plan any new or expanded DAB/DMB network, to diagnose problems in existing networks, and to simulate the reception of advanced data services such as DMB and EPM. The Field Monitor is supplied on a laptop with all the software pre-installed along with the receiver and a compatible GPS unit (which can be used to log position in drive trials).

Features include:-
High-sensitivity DAB Receiver
Integral Field Strength Measurement
GPS logging
Actual DAB Bit Error Rate (BER)
Suite of DMB performance metrics
Suite of EPM performance metrics

DAB/DMB Transmitter Monitor
Any DAB transmission network will contain a number of remote unmanned transmitters and it is vital that these are monitored and able to report back all of the essential DAB metrics. This DAB/DMB capable transmitter monitor provides support for the latest data features including:-
High-sensitivity DAB receiver
Local & Remote operation
Audio Streaming
FIC & MSC BER
Advanced data decoding
Constellation Diagram
Channel Impulse Response
SNMP traps on error conditions
Single Frequency Network (SFN) Monitor

At the heart of a DAB system is the vital timing functionality. If the timing of one of the transmitters in an SFN alters, either via user error or equipment fault, the reception within the SFN in range of that transmitter will be seriously degraded. Typically a SFN Monitor will be placed between a number of transmitters, checking to see if each is on air and the timing is synchronized with the rest of the network. The SFN Monitor is an enhancement of the Transmitter Monitor and adds the essential TII detection and timing metrics to the vast array of functionality already available, delivering an unbeatable solution to monitoring the DAB SFN functionality.

Additional features include:-
Transmitter Detection
Transmitter Drift
