Molex Drives Safety and Improved Productivity for Utility Companies with Woodhead® Lighting and Electrical Products

Exhibit highlights a wide range of Woodhead portable lighting and electrical devices for use in hazardous duty and wet locations

LISLE, IL - OCTOBER 6, 2008 - Molex Incorporated (NASDAQ: MOLX AND MOLXA), announces that its NECA 2008 exhibit (Booth #217) will feature an array of its Automation and Electrical Products (AEP) Division products designed to drive improved productivity and worker safety for utility companies throughout North America.

Molex serves the utilities industry with a wide range of Woodhead portable lighting and electrical devices for use in hazardous duty and wet locations. Woodhead products have an 86-year history of helping utilities ensure worker safety while improving maintenance and repair efficiency.

As a proven leader in delivering solutions for harsh-duty applications and challenging environments, Molex continues to work closely with utility customers by developing products that address the everyday and long-term challenges of the industry, increase ROI and lower total cost of ownership.

Utility Industry Challenges

Through industry consolidation and decentralization, the North American utilities industry continues to change rapidly, facing increased government safety oversight. "Utility companies responsible for the delivery of energy to homes and businesses require intensive capital investment and face high operating costs," said Servando Cedillo, Product Marketing Manager, Molex. "Molex is committed to supporting utility companies with Woodhead products that are OSHA and NEC compliant, help reduce lost time due to accidents and increase plant uptime."

There are thousands of standard Woodhead products and variations deployed by utility companies. The Woodhead product range includes:

o Wiring Devices Watertite® Wiring Devices. The industry standard for reliable protection in wet and abusive environments. UL listed and tested, Watertite plugs and connectors offer the ultimate solution. Our patented multiple seal and rugged NEoTEX® Paracril OZO rubber construction can withstand up to 1000 psi hose-down and provides a tight barrier against oil, water, dust and other contaminants.

o Fluorescent and Incandescent Hand Lamps designed to provide portable worksite illumination in industrial, hazardous and/or wet locations. Their rugged construction provides reliable performance and protects against breakage in even the toughest environments.

o LED Hand Lamps using light emitting diodes (LED) generate 780 initial lumens of light and provide 100,000 hours of service life. Compact for use in confined spaces, the lamps are energy efficient, economical to operate and cool to the touch. A battery-operated version has a built-in rechargeable battery pack for optimum flexibility and portability.

o Hazardous Duty Stringlights in incandescent and fluorescent versions, are typically used for longer-term repair projects in power stations and utility plants. Stringlight sets include a 25' lead, 600V rated SOW cord, molded "T" drops spaced at 10' intervals, and choice of Woodhead hazardous duty hand lamps. Customized lengths are also available.

o Anti-Static Grounding Reel. Steel static discharge grounding reels are used by technicians working around high tension power lines to ensure that towers, hoists, ladders and other raised equipment can be effectively grounded to guide static electricity safely into the earth. Reels come equipped with a galvanized steel aviation cord, 100A ground clamp and rubber bumper. An instant-acting lock-and-release mechanism facilitates ease of use.

o Wire Mesh Cable Grips are used to distribute gripping force over a large area to provide strain relief and prevent damage to the cord or cable. Woodhead Deluxe Cord Grip series, constructed of stainless steel mesh grips with aluminum bodies, are commonly used in hazardous and/or wet indoor or outdoor locations because of their superior corrosion resistance. Woodhead offers a wide assortment of strain relief, support and pulling grips for a host of industrial applications.

o GFCI Products. Designed for rugged service, the full line of NEC-compliant, portable Woodhead GFCI products are equipped with an open-neutral relay that meets OSHA requirements to safeguard workers against ground faults. GFCI outlet boxes, made of tough, long-lasting rubber, are built for use in dusty and dirty environments and assist in the reduction of "nuisance tripping".

o Customized products. Often a simple variation of a current Woodhead product will fit a customer's special application. Instead of wasting valuable job time by modifying a standard product, customers can ask Molex to create a "ready-to-use" solution. Typical variations include: cable length and type, stringlight socket spacing, plug/connector configurations, wiring configurations, combinations of standard product and color.

Woodhead portable lighting and electrical products can help utility companies increase worker efficiency and productivity, thereby reducing costs, while protecting worker safety by ensuring compliance with electrical codes and OSHA regulations.

Since 1922, Woodhead products have enabled critical utility industry applications through portable lighting and power, wiring devices, cable grips, cord reels, pendant stations and test instruments. Molex also provides a wide range of customized Woodhead products and solutions.
