Molecular Bonding System enables welds up to 6 ft away.

Press Release Summary:

CADWELD® PLUS System performs exothermically welded electrical connections. Tamper proof, integrated weld metal package consists of steel cup containing CADWELD weld metal alloys and ignition source. It joins copper to copper, steel, copper-clad steel, bronze/brass/stainless steel. Connections withstand repeated fault currents without failing during operation. They offer current-carrying capacity equal to that of conductor and exceed requirements of IEEE Standard 837.

Cadweld® Plus, the Revolutionary Molecular Bonding System that Will Last the Lifetime of the Conductor

January 23, 2004 - SOLON, Ohio - The revolutionary CADWELD® PLUS System is a simplified method of performing exothermically welded electrical connections. It joins copper to copper, copper to steel (plain or galvanized), copper to copper-clad steel, copper to bronze/brass/stainless steel and more.

Building on the quality and performance of CADWELD® exothermic connections - developed in 1938 - CADWELD® PLUS simplifies installation by eliminating the starting material. Welds can now be completed up to 6 ft. (1.8 m) away, increasing weld flexibility in hard-to-reach areas. With fewer steps to complete the weld, installation is now faster and easier and requires minimal training. Misapplications are virtually eliminated.

CADWELD PLUS connections offer all the benefits of conventional CADWELD connections.
o Withstand repeated fault currents without failing during operation.
o Exceed requirements of IEEE Standard 837 - Standard for Qualifying Permanent Connections Used in Substation Grounding.
o Offer current-carrying capacity equal to that of the conductor.
o Make a permanent, molecular bond that will not loosen or corrode, resulting in a connection with a lifetime equal to that of the conductor.
o Permit easy, visual quality-assurance inspection.

The tamper proof, integrated weld metal package consists of a steel cup containing CADWELD weld metal alloys and ignition source. This patented weld-metal package is designed for use in all standard CADWELD molds, including CADWELD® MULTI. Other benefits include:
o Decreased mold-cleaning time, as slag in the crucible area is greatly reduced.
o Color-coding for easy size recognition.
o Electronic ignition that is designed for 600 connections with one set of eight AA batteries (included).
