New Ceramacast 673N Now Used to Produce Burner Nozzles

Valley Cottage, NY - February 14, 2003

SUMMARY

Ceramacast(TM) 673N, a new high temperature, thermally conductive, silicon carbide based ceramic molding and potting compound developed by Aremco Products, Inc., is now used in the production of burner nozzles for the industrial heating market.

FEATURES

Ceramacast(TM) 673N is a two-part, chemical setting ceramic molding and potting compound that can be used in ultra high temperature applications to 2450 °F. Some typical applications of this material are:

1) To seal nitride-bonded, silicon carbide burner nozzles into metal housings for industrial heaters.
2) To bond graphite pour spouts into large graphite crucibles used in molten aluminum and magnesium processing.
3) To produce highly complex, large diameter molds used in powder metallurgical sintering of down hole drill bits for the oil and mining industries.

Ceramacast(TM) 673N is based on silicon carbide which provides exceptional thermal conductivity and low coefficient of thermal expansion. These properties are extremely important in many high temperature applications that require good dimensional stability and rapid heating and cooling cycles.

Ceramacast(TM) 673N is formulated as a two-part, powder base and hydrophobic liquid binder system. The powder can also be mixed with water only. When mixed in a typical ratio of 100 parts base to 10 parts activator or water, it demonstrates a pot life of 1-2 hours. It is fully hardened by air setting for 8 hours, then step curing for 1-2 hours at 200 °F and 250 °F, respectively. Cured material demonstrates an ultra low shrinkage of less than 0.3% at 1000 °F and compressive strength of 5,000 psi.

Ceramacast(TM) 673N is supplied from stock in quart, gallon and five gallon kits. For more information about this advanced product, please contact Aremco's Technical Sales Department.
