Mold Release Agent targets urethane applications.

Press Release Summary:

Formulated for elastomeric RIM and structural rigid polyurethane foam applications, Release Coating 7799 features flash point of 142°F, minimizing fire hazards that can occur with lower flash point release. Product provides 2-4 releases on structural rigid polyurethane foam applications and features low solids output of 25-40 g/min to maximize parts molded per gallon. Agent may also be considered for other urethane applications in which molding temperature is 155°F or higher.

Original Press Release:

Breakthrough Release Agent for Molded Polyurethane Applications

Release Coating 7799, announced by Huron Technologies, Inc., was specifically formulated for elastomeric RIM and structural rigid polyurethane foam applications. In a recent full scale production test, Release Coating 7799 minimized release agent transfer and was found to improve down line process substrate adhesion in a demanding manufacturing environment. The key benefits delivered by the product are:

  • Improved operations safety: Release Coating 7799's high flash point of 142 oF means improved safety by minimizing fire hazards that can occur with a lower flash point release. Lower flash point products require expensive fire suppression remedies and incur greater costs.

  • Excellent ease of release: Made for multiple applications including elastomeric RIM and structural rigid polyurethane foam. While Release Coating 7799 was designed for these two specific types of urethane applications, the product may also be considered for other urethane applications in which molding temperature is 155°F or higher. Typical elastomeric RIM applications include fascia components for panel trucks and agricultural equipment, exterior components, encapsulated windows and other exterior automotive components and fascia. Structural rigid polyurethane foam is used in automotive deck lids and similar automotive parts, door panels and headliner components. Using one release for multiple applications saves time and money. Less order processing, less inventory management and a single type of application training cut costs.

  • Post processing of parts: Enhanced post processing adhesion of fabric is improved with minimal transfer of release agent. Consistent post processing translates to less labor and reduced costs.

  • Multiple release potential: Two to four releases on structural rigid polyurethane foam applications. Multiple releases from a single application cuts labor and materials costs.

  • Low solids output: Output between 25 and 40 grams per minute with Release Coating 7799 results in more parts molded per gallon, making molding processes more cost effective.

  • Fast drying: Release Coating 7799 provides for high volume production, while providing an improvement in the level of safety and productivity, not found in typical solvent mold release products.

Release Coating 7799 is available in 5 gallon containers, 55 gallon drums or 345 gallon totes. Huron Technologies, Inc. is a custom formulator of release coatings for manufacturers molding polyurethane, composite, rubber and concrete.
