Modules provide direct AC input for sensor applications.

Press Release Summary:

Ricos modules allow direct AC input for any sensor/initiator applications required to use AC at 115V or 230V. They enable 4 inputs in 1 unit. When used in conjunction with buscoupler, AC expansion modules have local force, lock, and trigger diagnostic features. Compatible with Profibus-DP, Interbus-S, DeviceNet, Ethernet and CANopen protocols, modules offer test points at each termination point, color-coded contacts, and spring clamp terminals.

WIELAND RICOS MODULES PROVIDE DIRECT AC INPUT FOR SENSOR APPLICATIONS

BURGAW, N.C. (February 28, 2002)- Wieland Electric, Inc. has expanded its line of binary I/O modules with the addition of the ricos four AC-input modules for 115V and 230V circuits. Featuring the same dimensions and wiring features as standard expansion modules with diagnostic features available through the buscoupler interface, these ricos modules allow direct AC input for any sensor/initiator applications required to use AC at 115V or 230V.

The ricos binary Input modules provide designers with a direct AC input for applications that would have required a relay to change the input voltage. These ricos modules are designed to enable four inputs in one unit. When used in conjunction with the buscoupler, the AC expansion module has unique local diagnostic features such as force, lock and trigger.

"Allowing automation and control designers to achieve voltage requirements in various sensor applications, Wieland's four AC-input modules offer the same dimensions and wiring features of standard ricos expansion modules with diagnostic features through the buscoupler interface," said ricos Product Manager, Marc Immordino. "Additionally, the ricos line of Binary I/O modules is fully field-serviceable and ensures integrity of wiring during the entire maintenance process."

The ricos four AC-input modules for 115V and 230V are compatible with all Wieland buscoupler protocols (Profibus-DP, Interbus-S, DeviceNet, Ethernet and CANopen). All ricos modules are available in a choice of DIN rail or panel mount versions. Other standard features include test points provided at each termination point, color-coded contacts to prevent miswiring, spring clamp terminals supplied in the open position and complete field serviceability with a "works in a drawer" feature.

Pricing for the I/O 115V module starts at $112.35 per unit. Pricing for the I/O 230V module starts at $112.35 per unit.
