Moxa Technologies Launches NE-4120S/A-New Network Enabler (NE) Embedded Modules for Industrial Serial Devices

Moxa's NE-4120S/A Network Enablers offer a complete Ethernet connection solution to network-enable your serial devices. Their compact size-only 57 x 40 mm, or less than half the size of your credit card-allows you to easily integrate NE-4120S/A Network Enablers into your serial device to make the device 10/100M Ethernet-ready. NE-4120S/A's ready-to-go design allows you to get your legacy serial devices Ethernet-ready easily-just add on this module, without any circuit modification, and get your product to market in no time. NE-4120S/A's pin header design makes these embedded network enablers well-suited for any type of Ethernet connector, such as RJ45, RJ11, etc.

NE-4120S/A's industry-proven TCP/IP stack-which supports TCP Server, TCP Client, UDP, and Real COM operation modes-makes it easy for your R&D engineers to network-enable your serial device. There's no need to put extra effort into TCP/IP programming, allowing your engineers to dedicate the majority of their time developing other important features. You also reduce your time to market. By network-enabling your serial devices, card reader/SCADA systems and controllers can access and gather real-time data from NE-4120S/A series Network Enabler modules. This real-time data can be integrated with business systems (POS systems, for example) to create a valuable and competitive business information system. The 10/100M Ethernet auto-sensing interface also lets your application make use of high-speed Internet access when available.

NE-4120S/A products consume less than 1.5W of power, allowing your R&D engineers to virtually ignore the power consumption issue when adapting NE-4120S/A products to your applications. NE-4120S/A's 5V design is also better suited for today's equipment. NE-4120's 4 dedicated GPIO pins provide ample design flexibility, giving you the freedom to develop the features your customers need. Configuration is done with a user-friendly Windows utility, Web browser, or serial console. In addition, a Windows-based NECI (Network Enabler Configuration Interface) Library is available to help you develop your own Windows utilities.

Programmable version meets your customization needs
A C-Programmable version is available for custom applications, such as protocol conversion, front-end data processing, etc. The NE-4120S/A Software Development Kit (SDK) includes a Turbo C compiler and more than 100 API (Application Program Interface) functions for socket command and serial port control. Self explanatory example programs are also included to reduce your software developing time.
