New Data Acquisition And Control Module Announced By ICS Electronics
PLEASANTON, CA, December 7, 2001. Today ICS Electronics announced a new GPIB Data Acquisition and Control Module for Test and Measurement applications. Designated the Model 4867, this new module provides analog and digital signals for controlling devices and the ability to read back analog inputs, digital inputs and temperatures in a single small case. The 4867's GPIB interface is fully IEEE-488.2 compatible. Applications include controlling systems such as Traveling Wave Tube Amplifiers or collecting data from a test chassis.
The Model 4867 is a GPIB Data Acquisition and Control Module that can be used to control a wide range of analog and digital devices from the GPIB bus. The 4867 has 32 digital I/O lines, 6 relay driver outputs.6 analog outputs, 6 analog inputs and 4 thermocouple inputs. The 32 digital lines are high-power TTL lines with pullups that can be configured as inputs or outputs in 8-bit bytes. The relay driver outputs sink up to 300 mA and have reverse voltage suppression diodes. The analog outputs are programmable from 0 to +5 Vdc. The analog inputs have four programmable ranges from ± 10 Vdc down to 0 to +5 Vdc. Resolution in I part in 10 12 . The four Type J thermocouple inputs measure temperatures from - 100°C to +400°C.
The 4867's SCPI command parser and IEEE-488.2 Status Reporting Structure provides full control over a GPIB bus. The 4867 accepts SCPI commands (Standard Commands for Programmable Instruments) or short form, two-character commands to control its I/O functions. It also responds to all of the IEEE-488.2 required common commands such as *IDN?. Example Visual Basic and LabVIEW programs are included with the 4867.
The 4867 is designed as a low cost Data Acquisition and Control Module for test systems. The unit is housed a 7 in x 7 in MiniboxTM case that can be rack mounted or used as a stand-alone unit. The 4867 uses only 2 VA of unregulated DC power so it can be battery operated for portable applications or AC powered with the included AC adapter. The 4867 has been CE tested and is approved for sale in Europe.
