Ipanema Launches Tele-Acceleration Module for Enhanced WAN Application Traffic Management

Cost-effective Solution Optimizes Applications on Large Networks Without Requiring a Device at Each Site

CONCORD, Mass., August 21, 2006 - Ipanema Technologies, the leader in application traffic management systems for wide area networks, today announced its Tele-Acceleration module, a cost-effective solution that uses patented technology to optimize applications on large networks without requiring a device at each site.

Unlike existing solutions, Ipanema's Tele-Acceleration uses a unique approach to TCP acceleration that speeds up the TCP protocol at the source without necessitating another device at the destination site.

"Our new approach to TCP acceleration fits with our overall Cooperative Tele-Optimization strategy whereby distant sites can achieve maximum efficiency without installing extra hardware or software at every site," said Vargha Moayed, executive vice president of Ipanema Technologies. "This is particularly attractive to clients seeking to manage large networks in a cost effective manner."

TCP acceleration implementations focus on solving some TCP limitations such as the latency associated with opening and closing TCP sessions. However, none address the most common cause of low performance of TCP-based applications: TCP's own calculation of the "optimal" session throughput.

Ipanema's Tele-Acceleration offers the following unique benefits:

o By leveraging Ipanema's Cooperative Optimization function that optimizes meshed flows (in some-to-many or many-to-many network configurations), Tele Acceleration is always able to compute the globally optimal bandwidth for each session.

o Ipanema's Tele-Acceleration is able to deliver to remote sites a WAN optimization feature that combines the benefits of both acceleration and performance guarantees.

Ipanema's Tele-Acceleration module thus provides a highly efficient and cost-effective way of increasing the performance of all applications based on TCP globally over the WAN in a manner that is transparent to IT.

"With its approach to TCP acceleration, Ipanema has found an innovative and astute way to tackle the problem induced by the TCP protocol on application performance," said Michael Kennedy, Ph.D, co-founder and managing partner of Network Strategy Partners. "This is a real innovation that will benefit many corporate WANs."
The Tele-Acceleration module is available immediately from Ipanema.

About Ipanema Technologies (www.ipanematech.com) Founded in 1999, Ipanema Technologies is a provider of advanced application traffic management solutions that maximize network application performance. Its solutions are utilized by organizations deploying VoIP, ERP applications and other bandwidth-hungry projects as well as those embarking on ITIL projects. Network integrators market the Ipanema system to enterprises, while telecom service providers and network managed service providers offer it as a service.

The Ipanema system is simple, automated and scalable and is unique in guaranteeing critical application performance regardless of network conditions. It enables this by providing full visibility of application flows over the network, optimizing network resources through a combination of integrated technologies and rightsizing bandwidth according to application performance objectives. Ipanema's solutions are deployed in more than 75 countries; its customers include large organizations such as the French Army, L'Oreal, Sanofi, Europcar, Rhodia and Lexmark. Ipanema is based in France, with U.S headquarters in Concord, Mass.
