Solid-State Modulators and Power Supplies Improve Radar Transmitter Performance and Reliability



A full line of high voltage solid-state electronics to replace switch- and voltage regulator tubes and crowbars in radar transmitters that employ VEDs (vacuum electron devices), or RF-tubes, has been introduced by Diversified Technologies, Inc. of Bedford, Massachusetts.

DTI PowerMod(TM) Solid-State Radar Upgrades are designed to replace switch and voltage regulator tubes and crowbars up to the VED with high voltage solid-state modulators and power supplies which can be retrofitted into existing cabinetry. Featuring >.01% pulse-to-pulse stability, these upgrades have produced from 300- to 50,000 hrs. MTBF, documented improvements in transmitter reliability and are available as field-installable kits.

MIL qualified for shipboard and ground applications, DTI PowerMod(TM) Solid-State Radar Upgrades can provide up to 500 kV of cathode voltage, multi-megawatts average power, pulse widths from 100 ns to milliseconds, and frequencies over 100 KHz.
