Magnemotion Unveils New Design and Build Capabilities for Optimizing Modular Track Solutions

MagneMover® to Increase Efficiency and Flexibility for Material Handling and Assembly Automation Customers

Acton, MA, December 18, 2006 - MagneMotion, a developer and manufacturer of assembly automation, material handling and transportation solutions using electro-magnetic technology, today announced the launch of MagneMover® DB 1.0, a new modular track designed to compliment its QuickStick(TM) Linear Synchronous Motor (LSM) technology. MagneMover DB 1.0 is designed for material handling requirements in the 50-500kg payload range and is the first product in the MagneMover Design series. The track system is compatible with MagneMotion's 100, 500 and 500HT QuickStick(TM) LSM.

MagneMover Designs exemplify MagneMotion's expertise in design and build capabilities for end users, OEMs, and systems integrators. MagneMotion will offer customers the ability to adopt a system design or provide tailored design and build services on request. The MagneMover DB 1.0's small turn radius (one meter) allows it to fit into any manufacturing floor plan, giving customers greater flexibility when designing a factory or warehouse. The new design features MagneMotion's patent-pending double-bogie vehicle approach for negotiating curves and merge/diverge points as well as MagneMotion's patent-pending magnetic switching, allowing for instantaneous switching without mechanical actuation.

"The MagneMover Design initiative is vital to our overall QuickStick strategy," says Todd Webber, co-founder and president of MagneMotion. "We are excited to offer MagneMover Designs as a streamlined approach to addressing the many variables surrounding the functionality of the QuickStick System. Our experience in the design and build process has given us the expertise to navigate the standard specifications surrounding an optimized solution, and we are happy to expand the offering to our customers."

The MagneMotion DB 1.0 design coupled with standard QuickStick features greatly reduces mechanical dependencies and the need for third-party systems. Queuing, position sensing, and motion control are handled electro-magnetically through user-friendly software. The system is designed to accommodate different speeds, acceleration and payload requirements, consisting of modular track segments which can be placed end to end to form any desired track configuration. The current design is floor mounted, but with slight modification can be an overhead or suspended system, saving valuable floor space.

MagneMover Design capabilities address proper vehicle and track dimensions to maintain the proper gap between the magnet array and the top of the QuickStick(TM) LSM, magnetic hold-down forces, magnet array lengths, motor placement, electro-magnetic switching, and different radii turns.
