Original Press Release:

AIS's New Standard Series Touch Panel PCs Meet the Broadest Range of HMI Applications from Industrial Machine Control and SCADA to ICT, IIoT & M2M Applications

Modular, Scalable Standard Series Touch Panel PCs from AIS Offer Flexibility & Efficiency for OEMs and ODMs Customizing Control & Monitoring Solutions for Their Specific Industrial Applications

IRVINE, CALIFORNIA – American Industrial Systems, Inc. (AIS), the leading designer and manufacturer of customizable, single and multi-touch panels, industrial panel PCs, comfort HMIs, thin clients and rugged touchscreens for OEMs, ODMs and end-users, has recently introduced a new family of Smart Touch Panel PCs for Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), Information and Communications Technology (ICT), Machine to Machine (M2M) and Industry 4.0 applications. The latest addition to their family of open HMIs for internet driven technologies and applications include the new Standard Series Touchscreens.

Open Architecture, Modularity & Scalability of their New Standard Series of HMIs Give AIS’s Customers a New Solution for the Requirements of IIoT and M2M Communication

Similar to their Premium Series, their most powerful, high-end touchscreen family recently introduced, the Standard Series features a fully modular build and design which allows customers to expand, change and modify their systems easily without excessive upgrade costs or engineering  efforts. The Standard system includes a fully modular Box PC, touchscreen and power supply. Field replaceable units on the Standard HMI Series include: CMOS battery, mass storage, random-access memory, and power fuses. In addition, the new Standard series of HMIs boasts solid state digital drives, no moving parts and fan-less cooling which improve reliability and uptime for improved OEE and lower TCO.

AIS’s Standard Series HMIs Facilitate IT & OT Convergence with its Open Architecture, Large Storage Capacity, Functionality and Great Range of Connectivity Options

The Internet of things (IoT) refers to the creation of an automated environment where wired and wireless technologies allow machines to communicate with each other and complete tasks, without need for human intervention. As information technology (IT) and operational technology (OT) domains’ continue to converge, AIS’s Standard Series Touch-panel PCs deliver new visualization, control and monitoring capabilities to support Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) applications, as well as basic M2M infrastructure necessary to integrate more intelligence into processes and control systems. IT and OT convergence creates IIoT applications that generate extremely large data sets, and the Standard Series HMIs accommodate these requirements with its 1 x 180 GB SSD for mass storage and additional 32 GB m-SATA SSD for secondary storage along with a wide range of connectivity options for expansion.

High-Speed Processing and Affordability for ICT & Big Data in a Rugged HMI Package

Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) projects are often Big Data projects and distributing more intelligence down to the device level will often help prevent database bloat. HMIs are enabling technologies that help facilitate IIoT initiatives. Equipped with an Intel® Atom™ E3845 Processor with 2M Cache, 1.91 GHz, 10 W maximum TDP, the Standard Series Touchscreens have the power to handle a wide range of Big Data processing and information and communication technologies (ICT) applications. The Standard series is also available in six different touchscreen sizes ranging from 12.1” to 21.5” in 16:9 and 4:3 formats.

Field Replaceable Modules & Components for Proactive Maintenance, Reduced Field Service Costs & Lower Supply Chain Costs

AIS provides unparalleled lifecycle support for an extensive installed base, including a broad range of software and hardware upgrade products designed to extend life and improve reliability. An open architecture combined with redundant storage and integrated networked devices produce highly available and reliable HMI systems. Downtime can be extremely costly to an operation’s productivity, profitability and efficiency. AIS’s open platform, Standard Series touch-panel PCs help customers better realize the benefits of proactive maintenance including: improved uptime, asset longevity, maintenance cost control, and safety. Industrial organizations review their asset management strategy and consider increased adoption of condition monitoring and predictive maintenance solutions with AIS’s Standard series HMIs.

Returning an automation system back into service quickly is important to maintaining KPIs and production quotas. Maintenance and replacement of HMI system’s components are easy for maintenance personnel even with limited technical knowledge and experience. AIS’s open HMI systems are modularized and easily replaced by customers in the field. This allows high productivity with the least amount of downtime and disruption. It also allows the reduction of spare parts inventory in the supply chain which reduces capital costs need to maintain it.

AIS’s New HMI Families: Premium, Standard and Value Line Overview Features & Benefits

AIS had also recently introduced two other new series of HMIs including, the Standard Series and Value line to complement their Premium Series offering. Key features of the entire range of new, open HMI touch panels from AIS include:

• Open & standard interfaces in hardware & software for HMI, SCADA & MES applications

• PC-based automation using standard Ethernet & TCP/IP for easy HMI/SCADA & IT/OT integration
