Modular Test System From Schaffner Meets Latest EMC Test Requirements For Automotive Applications

Edison, NJ, November 28, 2001 - Schaffner EMC, Inc., has introduced the NSG 5200 test system to meet new electromagnetic compliance (EMC) immunity test standards in the auto industry for supply voltage variations (SW), conducted sine waves (CSW) and power magnetics (PM). These tests are applied to radios, sunroof controllers, antenna drives, headlight systems and other automotive electronic systems including those with 42V supplies. Modular in design, the NSG 5200 can be assembled and purchased to perform all three tests or just those required for the particular application, so the customer does not have to purchase more testing power than needed.

The NSG 5200 can function as a stand-alone unit, or it can be combined with Schaffner's NSG 5000 pulsed immunity test generator to provide a comprehensive test system. Schaffner's EMC test systems for the automotive industry can be expanded to meet new standards as they are developed and introduced by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the International Standards Organization (ISO) and major automotive manufacturers. Custom systems can be configured by ordering the appropriate modules.

New Autostar application software for the NSG 5200 and NSG 5000 runs under a true, 32-bit scalable Windows operating system. The Autostar software permits seamless integration of the NSG 5200 and NSG 5000 and includes a test library of pre-programmed automotive standards.
