Modular Storage System offers automated operation.

Press Release Summary:

Model MSS III can operate on its own for single self-contained warehouse or can be grouped with other MSS IIIs for larger systems. Automated storage and retrieval system can move up to 300 cases/hr. Additional offerings include use of Side Clamp Method and group/in-order retrieval by pre-pull system. Machine does not require picking lists, allowing use of both hands for operation. Picking functions are accomplished with digital displays.

SK Daifuku Reduces Cost and Space While Increasing Speed and Efficiency with the New Modular Storage System (MSS III)

SALT LAKE CITY, UT - SK Daifuku introduces the new Modular Storage System (MSS III) at ProMat 2003, February 10 - 13 in Chicago, IL. The trend of lead times being reduced to immediate shipping at the time of orders has brought with it the need for greater speed and efficiency. Now the distribution industry has a new tool that provides these benefits. This latest technology offering allows for the processing of a larger quantity of product in a shorter amount of time while reducing costs.

Capable of operating on its own for a single self-contained warehouse or grouped with other MSS IIIs for larger systems, the newest automated storage and retrieval system is twice as fast as its predecessors. The ability to store a case and retrieve another in 12 seconds allows for the movement of up to 300 cases per hour. The new crane is three times faster and the new design weighs 30% less than the previous model, which leads to a reduction in power consumption and cost. The MSS III's compact size is four times more space efficient than conventional shelf storage, which reduces costs while increasing storage capacity by 20%.

"The MSS III is a smaller, faster and easier to use AS/RS than has ever been available before," says David Janke, vice president of sales and marketing. "This system allows the greatest flexibility and the most cost-effective solution for getting cartons of all sizes out the door quickly."

The Modular Storage System (MSS III) is ideal for those who handle loads of varying sizes and shapes. Other features included in the MSS III are the following:

o Distance between products shortened by 2/3 using Side Clamp Method.
o Group retrieval and in-order retrieval by pre-pull system.
o AS/RS footprint and replenishment time reduced by high capacity.
o No picking lists needed, allowing use of both hands to operate.
o Easier picking with digital displays.
o Light weight and energy efficient design.
