New Safety Interlock for Both Hinged and Sliding Doors
Erlanger, KY: Industrial safety specialist Fortress Interlocks has launched DM (Door Module), a robust modular access interlock suitable for use on all types of doors. The unit, part of Fortress' new mGard range of modular interlocks, is available with a selection of robust, all stainless steel actuators suitable for both hinged and sliding doors. The head features a choice of four head rotation angles and two actuator entry points.
DM is available as a single door lock, or with up to ten multiple access lock modules. Simple to configure, a system using DM can be expanded at any time with the addition of more modules or trimmed down and the surplus modules used elsewhere.
As part of an interlock system, the locks are used to control access to enclosed areas until a safe condition has been achieved. In a typical operation sequence one or more keys are inserted into the lock and turned. This disengages the actuator and the door can be opened. The keys remain trapped until the door is closed and the actuator re-engaged. Other operating sequences are also available.
DM features a die-cast zinc body with pearl bronze finish. The head, all internal contact components, actuators and key are constructed using stainless steel. Fully stainless steel versions of the modules are also available. Tested to over 1 million operations, the units have tamper-resistant head mechanisms, and require minimal maintenance.
In conjunction with DM, Fortress has launched the XM (Exchange Module) a modular, mechanical trapped-key interlock that is used to exchange one or more keys for a number of other keys. XM acts as the link between isolation devices and access locks. Any combination of isolation keys and access keys is possible.
