Short time to market for power topologies from 10 - 100kW

Nuremberg, 24 November 2009 - Semikron introduces the IGBT-based platform SEMiXBOX, a modular power assembly developed for power topologies from 10 - 100kW. The platform offers a cost-effective, compact design for inverters and converters in AC/DC drives, solar power, uninterruptible power supplies and power conversion applications. The SEMiXBOX consists of one or two main box sections which are assembled together for increased power or circuit complexity as required by the customer.

The modularity of the SEMiXBOX allows for different variations with a one or three-phase inverter, rectifier and chopper, providing practically any required topology up to 180A. The main power semiconductor modules of each box, the SEMiX diodes, thyristors or IGBTs are assembled onto a compact cooling system consisting of a heat sink and high performance fan, and coupled to a low-inductance DC link.

The SEMiXBOX is a fully qualified ready to use platform. Standard Semikron components are integrated, resulting in a cost-effective, short time to market solution. A current sensing system is available as a standard option. The sensing system uses high quality hall-effect current sensors and provide a current range from 50 to 200 A. A multi-function printed circuit board is available on request to perform standard functions such as DC voltage measurement, temperature sensing or pre-charging. The complete assembly is enclosed in a robust IP20 unit, is EMI shielded, and is easily installed into a standard cabinet.

More than five decades ago Semikron started to integrate semiconductors, capacitors, cooling management systems and drivers into power assemblies.
