Modular Passive Harmonic Filters come in high power versions.

Press Release Summary:

Available as open frame modules, ECOsine® filters enable high-power AC or DC motor drives to be upgraded to low harmonic drive. Chokes module is designed for placement at bottom of cabinet, while capacitor and RC-damper modules can be placed wherever space is available. While FN3410 filters for 380–500 V, 50 Hz grids are available with standard ratings from 200–400 kW, FN3412 filters for 380–480 V, 60 Hz grids are available for power ratings from 300–500 hp.

Original Press Release:

ECOsine® - New High Power Filter Modules for System Integration

The Schaffner Group further broadens its product offering of solutions for the improvement of power quality. The popular passive harmonic filters ECOsine® are now also available as open frame modules with extended power rating up to 400kW/50Hz and 500HP/60Hz.

With the introduction of the new modular high power filters, Schaffner, the international leader in the fields of electromagnetic compatibility and power quality, is further expanding its product offering of harmonics mitigation solutions. By utilizing the new filter modules, every high-power AC or DC motor drive can be easily upgraded to a low harmonic drive.

The new modular filter concept specifically targets the requirements of integrators and their challenge of fitting a considerable amount of electrical equipment into tight motor control centers and electrical cabinets. The chokes module is designed for easy placement at the bottom of the cabinet, while the capacitor and RC-damper modules can be placed wherever cabinet space is available.

The new filters are greatly cost effective as they don’t need a dedicated expensive enclosure. The compact Schaffner solution can conveniently be incorporated into the customers own cabinet, allowing the filter components to be wired along with the overall electrical wiring job and to be cooled by jointly utilizing the overall cooling concept.

The modular high-power ECOsine® filters come in two versions: FN3410 filters for 380-500V, 50Hz grids, available with standard ratings from 200 to 400kW. And FN3412 filters for 380-480V, 60Hz grids, available for power ratings from 300 to 500HP. Filter modules are UL-recognized, CE-marked and RoHS compliant. They are particularly suitable for applications involving variable speed drives with DC-link chokes, where the total harmonic distortion (THD) of the load current must be reduced to ~5%. Other applications include high power battery chargers, UPS, three-phase power supplies and other equipment with balanced 6-pulse rectifier front-end.
