Original Press Release:

Siemens Presents Second Generation of Simotics HV Series H-compact Plus Motors

The Siemens Drive Technologies Division has supplemented its Simotics HV Series with the second generation of H-compact Plus motors for low and medium voltage applications. These motors feature high output and low noise levels and offer a wide selection of cooling configurations ranging from air-water-cooling IC8xW and air-air-cooling IC 61x to open cooling IC01 for 2-and 4-pole machines. Enhanced with sub-critical design the H-compact Plus motors allow the full speed control range to be used.

The new generation of H-compact Plus motors is available in shaft heights 450 mm, 500 mm and 560 mm. They constitute of a gray cast iron enclosure along with anti-friction bearings and sleeve bearings which are optionally available. High power density increased by 5% and compact design results in lower space requirement whereas the insulation and bearing system provides for safety of the system. The degree of efficiency was increased by 0.4% to 96.5%. This in turn plays an im-portant role in yielding remarkable vibration behavior and longer lifetime.

The Simotics HV Series H-compact Plus motors is suitable for operating directly to the mains and also at low voltage and medium voltage inverters. The power ratings of H-compact Plus second generation vary from 900 kW – 4000 kW. They can also be ordered in explosion-proof design which encompasses supply voltage ranging from 690 V to 11kV and befit explosion protection classes Ex nA, Ex p; Ex tc, Ex e.

Like all the H-compact Plus modular motor family, the second generation of motors are available in virtually any imaginable configuration and can be mounted horizon-tally as well as vertically. The motors offer a wide selection of cooling and housing configurations and can thus be deployed to different branches, for example oil- and gas-applications, marine applications and in the metals industry. Industries such as mining and cement will also largely benefit from such high voltage motors as they can be applied to low and to medium voltage applications. These motors can be used to drive pumps, compressors, fans, blowers, refiners, crushers, press, mills as well as for the propulsion of ships.

Built exclusively with Siemens’ Micalastic comprehensive vacuum impregnation insulation (VPI) system, these motors are produced in Europe and meet the industry’s toughest standards laid by IEC, ANEMA and API standards.
