Weber To Introduce New Modular Label Printer-Applicator W/Optional RFID Encoding at ProMat 2007

Arlington Heights, Ill. - Weber Marking Systems will introduce its new Model 5300 label printer-applicator to the material handling marketplace at its ProMat 2007 booth #4531. The new system combines modular design with high-speed, high-quality label printing, application and optional RFID encoding.

Engineered and manufactured by Weber, the modular unit offers a selection of pressure-sensitive label application methods, including air-blow, tamp-blow, corner-wrap and two-label/adjacent panel labeling. The versatility of the new system means that it can be reconfigured to address future labeling applications without having to acquire a separate printer-applicator.

To minimize downtime and reduce changeovers, the Model 5300 features a one-to-one relationship among its label supply, liner rewind and ribbon usage. In addition, the unit's rewind system automatically adjusts to the amount of liner on the take-up reel, providing added operational dependability. Further flexibility is provided by standard connectivity to product handling systems and high-speed pneumatic components.

The Model 5300 also features a repositionable operator interface with optional 15-foot umbilical, plus the capabilities to incorporate a user-specific PLC and remotely monitor the operation of the unit via a web browser. The system also meets international standards as prescribed by UL, CE, CSA and RoHS.

A variety of standard thermal/thermal-transfer print engines produce text, bar codes and graphic images at 203 or 300 dpi, and will rapidly dispense labels at up to 16 ips. The optional RFID models combine printing capabilities with the encoding and verification of RFID inlays to meet the specifications of EPC protocols.

Weber's Model 5300 operates with Weber's print-apply software, which simplifies label formatting, editing and printing, in addition to providing RFID encoding capabilities. Weber also manufactures a wide variety of stock and custom pressure-sensitive label materials and RFID smart labels that are suitable for variable thermal or thermal-transfer imprinting,
