Rittal Offers Off-the-Shelf Type 4 and 4X Protective Enclosures
SPRINGFIELD, OH, March 2004 - Rittal Corporation is the first manufacturer to offer modular enclosures with Type 4 and 4X protection. Meeting UL and cUL requirements, the TS8 Type 4 and 4X enclosures offer outstanding design flexibility and superior corrosion resistance. The cabinets are ideal where hose-down cleaning is required in industries such as food and beverage or corrosive outdoor environments. They can be used with control equipment, drives, 19" rack components and programmable logic controllers.
The TS8 Type 4 enclosures are currently available off-the-shelf in four sizes. Stock includes heights from 1800 mm (71 in) to 2000 mm (78 in), widths from 600 mm (24 in) to 800 mm (32 in) and depths of 600 mm (24 in). The Type 4X also will soon be in stock and available for customer needs.
Sidewalls are included with the TS8 Type 4 and 4X enclosures, as well as mounting panels to attach internal components. These enclosures are designed with a four-point latching system, a key feature that customers have been seeking in the marketplace. The powder-coated Type 4 design meets UL standard 1332 which tests products with organic paint to allow outdoor use. The Type 4X is designed with Type 304 stainless steel for superior corrosion resistance. Both products will be globally available.
Suiting kits that can be installed in the field will soon be available allowing the bayed enclosures to maintain their Type 4 and 4X protective rating. These kits will enable technicians in the field to remove the sidewalls of two or more enclosures and then join the cabinets together. Allowing the enclosures to maintain their Type 4 and 4X protective rating, this option will further enhance the cost savings to customers who would normally be required to seek special design services from a manufacturer to maintain the Type 4 and 4X ratings.
