GE Energy Launches New Upgrade to Its Mobile Power Unit

TM2500+ Bridges Gap Between Energy Outages and Dependable Power Generation

Power-Gen International 2008 Booth #4600

ORLANDO, FLA.-December 2, 2008-In order to offer faster, more reliable solutions to help its customers bridge the gap between energy outages and dependable power, GE Energy today announced the latest enhancement to its trailer-mounted mobile power unit, the TM2500+. The new unit offers a 30 percent increase in power from a footprint 75 percent smaller than its predecessor.

The TM2500+ is the upgraded version of GE Energy's existing TM2500 product line. The TM2500+ incorporates GE's lightweight LM2500 aeroderivative gas turbine with the Brush 170ER generator. GE has sold more than 2,000 LM2500 and LM2500+ units in industrial applications worldwide, making it one of the world's most experienced, reliable gas turbine solutions for temporary power applications.

Perfect for providing a base load bridge to permanent power installations or for generating backup power supporting plant shutdowns or equipment maintenance, the upgraded unit provides up to 34 megawatts - enough to power over 12,000 average-sized U.S. households. The TM2500+ achieves full power in less than 10 minutes with 41.1 percent efficiency with an average noise level of only 88 dBa. The unit can be applied in either 60 or 50 Hz applications and can operate on natural gas or liquid distillate fuels. Water injection can be used to achieve nitrogen oxide (NOx) levels down to 25 ppm.

Now packaged on a two-trailer system with top-mounted air inlet filter and exhaust assemblies, GE's TM2500+ requires just over 150 square meters (1,600 square feet) of space. Both the inlet filter assembly and the exhaust duct mount directly on top of the main trailer, making the TM2500+ easily transported by ship, rail or road to even the most remote locations around the globe. The improved TM2500+ design also offers an increased number of quick-disconnect fittings, which simplifies and accelerates the installation process allowing for assembly and set-up in just one day.

"Our TM2500's have been applied in more than 30 different temporary power applications in a dozen different countries. From small single-unit projects to large multi-unit projects - short-term or long-term, in cold climates or hot - our TM2500 fleet has seen it all over the years." said Darryl Wilson, general manager of GE Energy's aeroderivative business. "Now with more power packed into a smaller footprint, the TM25000+ can be quickly dispatched to any location in the world, quickly installed and making power."

GE Energy's aeroderivative division is a leading supplier of aeroderivative gas turbines and packaged generator sets for industrial and marine applications. The company provides power-generating equipment to utilities, industries and marine fleets throughout the world. It is also the world's largest and most experienced aeroderivative gas turbine service provider.
