Netzsch Manufactures Revolutionary Mixing System
EXTON, PA, May 2003 - To achieve unmatched homogeneous pre-dispersion results with precise, reproducible qualities, the Grinding and Dispersion Division of NETZSCH now manufactures an all new disperser, the Y-Mix(tm). Within a controlled process environment, finely dispersed powders come in contact with a large liquid surface and are wetted under shear. Through its ability to effectively improve the wetting of solid particles and the dispersion of high solid contents, the Y-Mix(tm) system ultimately ensures higher pigment concentrations and guarantees more efficient and higher quality dispersions.
Within this compact and easy-to-clean system, solid feed products enter the system through a controlled rotary valve. A tangential inlet for liquid or suspension creates a venturi effect for rapid powder incorporation. Next, the solid particles are wetted in a cyclone and dispersed in an acceleration zone with cooled housing. Finally, a large liquid surface is formed by the high throughput, and the mixing and dispersion of the particles occurs in a long compression zone. The free outlet allows an end user to maintain precise product temperature control.
Compared with a conventional disperser or rotor/stator design, this machine is not sensitive to large particles or foreign objects in the pigment suspension. Temperature-sensitive materials with a wide viscosity range can be processed in this machine through the unique design of the disperser. The Y-Mix(tm) offers dust and emission-free dispersion within a completely enclosed process chamber, making it an ideal alternative to vacuum feeding.
