Mixed-Mode Manufacturer Communications Systems, Inc. Selects IFS Applications ERP to Replace 20-year-old Legacy System

Itasca, Ill. - Communications Systems, Inc. (CSI), provider of physical connectivity infrastructure and services for global deployments of broadband networks, has selected IFS Applications Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solution to replace its legacy enterprise systems.

IFS Applications will be rolled out first at CSI's Minnetonka location. Additional locations include Hector, MN, Ft. Lauderdale, FL, China, Costa Rica and the United Kingdom.

CSI will implement a broad suite of IFS Applications modules including IFS Business Performance, IFS Financials, IFS Distribution, IFS Manufacturing, IFS Engineering/Product Design, IFS Maintenance, IFS Call Center, IFS Service Management, IFS Human Resources, IFS Sales & Marketing, and IFS Business Intelligence.

CSI decided to select a new ERP solution to automate and standardize processes throughout the organization, increase visibility for decision making and become a platform for growth going forward.

IFS Applications was chosen because it was the best functional software fit and there was a good cultural fit between CSI and IFS. CSI is confident that IFS Applications will help improve business knowledge availability, automate processes and improve manufacturing flexibility.

"Following extensive requirements development and vendor comparisons, our selection team determined that IFS was the best choice for CSI. We are looking forward to the improved capabilities and tools that IFS Applications offers," CSI Vice President of Information Services Mike Skucius said. "Benefits for us will include a better informed field sales staff, improved data analysis and reporting tools, a higher level of integration across multiple international business units, improved data sharing with our customers, improved communication and workflow, traceability on software revisions, and complete product lifecycle management."

"As a mixed-mode manufacturer, CSI needs an ERP solution that is agile and robust enough to run in multiple manufacturing environments, while improving overall company visibility and SOX reporting capabilities," IFS Vice President of Sales Mike Lorbiecki said. "IFS Applications is the best functional fit for CSI and other engineer-to-order, configure-to-order and make-to-order manufacturers looking for a reliable ERP solution."

Industrial manufacturing is one of IFS' targeted markets. IFS has a broad customer base in the industry, focusing on medium-sized to large manufacturers that need support for complex order-driven and mixed-mode manufacturing across the extended enterprise. With strong support for project management, engineering, advanced scheduling, product configuration, and after-sales support, IFS' component-based business solutions are designed to help companies improve quality, contain costs, and improve their competitive position in manufacturing industry segments such as machinery, defense, fabricated metal products, and plastics. Industrial manufacturing companies also benefit from IFS' lifecycle management solution, which goes beyond product lifecycle management (PLM) to provide better integration and management of three critical business areas-products, customers, and resources-throughout their lifecycles.

IFS Industrial Manufacturing customers include Chief Industries, Colfax Corporation, Kongskilde, Nolato Group, Bombardier, GEA Pharma Systems, PartnerTech, Stolle Machinery, Völkl, and Johnson Pump.
