BASKING RIDGE, N.J., April 9 -- As a leading operator of assembly plants for passenger cars and pickup trucks, Mitsubishi Motors (Thailand) Co. Ltd., places a premium on seamless, uninterrupted access to its communications network in order to keep its operations running smoothly.

With more than 45 years of operation in Thailand, the company currently has over 4,000 employees, and 142 showrooms and service centers nationwide. Focusing on world-class production technology, Mitsubishi Motors Thailand has exported more than 900,000 vehicles to 140 countries around the globe.

"In our incredibly competitive business, seconds lost in communications costs us money and can even erode our competitive edge," said Padung Tangmeesang, corporate general manager -- Office of Information Technology, Mitsubishi Motors Thailand.

As a result, the company has chosen to implement new IP telephony software with rigorous business continuity capabilities developed by Avaya Inc. (NYSE: AV), a leading global provider of business communications applications, software and services.

Introduced in early March during VoiceCon Spring 2007, Avaya Communication Manager 4.0 software addresses the need for secure, highly available communications. If there is a Wide Area Network service interruption, new Dial Plan Transparency features enable users to keep all their dialing capabilities until WAN connectivity is restored.

Mitsubishi Motors Thailand is an early adopter of Avaya Communication Manager 4.0 software. For its communications infrastructure, the company uses an Avaya S8500 Media Server with Avaya G650 Media Gateways that distribute the capabilities of the new software to the administrative and manufacturing teams based at its main campus. A remote location is linked to the network by an Avaya G700 Media Gateway with a survivable Avaya S8300 Media Server -- allowing employees to continue to make and receive calls if connectivity to the company network is lost. To access the many productivity-enhancing features of Communications Manager software, employees of Mitsubishi Motors Thailand use Avaya 4200 and 4600 Series IP phones.

"We are depending on the new Avaya software to keep our operations running smoothly," Padung said. "Since we've had Avaya Communication Manager 4.0 software, any network interruptions, particularly in our WAN, are transparent to our users. Now, they can continue to dial the same numbers across all our offices, even during a network interruption."
