Motion Activated Laser System Takes SKIL Miter Saw to New Heights

Heavily featured saw sure to complement any workshop or jobsite

Mount Prospect, Ill., September 28, 2006 - Showing your tools to your neighbor has never been so fun, thanks to the new 10-inch compound miter saw from Skil with the SmartCut(TM) system. The 3800 miter saw with motion activated, two-beam laser technology makes lining up a cut easier than ever.

The never-before-seen technology that comprises the SmartCut system allows users to make cuts faster and safer than ever before. As the operator comes within range of the saw, its motion-activated laser system automatically turns on. With both hands free, the user can now position their cut line between the two laser beams that project onto the material. Similar to other newly-introduced Skil saws, the two-beam laser technology shows the user exactly what portion of the material will be removed during the cut, lessening the opportunity for imperfect cuts. And, since the lasers are activated by motion instead of pulling the trigger, users no longer have to adjust their workpiece with one hand.

Uses can achieve a perfect cut every time in just three simple steps:
1. Approach the saw to activate the laser.
2. Use two hands to align the workpiece with the cut line.
3. Complete the cut knowing the stock removed is exactly what needed to be eliminated.

DIYers will appreciate numerous professional features on the 3800 miter saw.

Complementing the already easy-to-use laser system, the saw comes equipped with two crown molding stops that hold crown up to 4.5-inches in the nested position during a cut. A table extension with left and right extension rails, which are designed to support longer, wider workpieces, helps ensure an effortless cut. And lastly, vertical clamps hold the work piece securely during the cut, ensuring this new saw is the easiest miter saw
on the market to use.

"The motion activated technology Skil added to the miter saw is brand new to the power tool industry and will take miter saws to a whole new level," said Dennis Krob, product manager for Skil Power Tools. "This robust saw will guide any DIYer through tough miter cuts to ensure a positive cutting experience. And, while catering to DIYers' needs, Skil did not forget the many professionals who use our tools. We
built this saw to be strong and durable to endure the rigors of any jobsite."

With its commitment to quality products, Skil once again created a tool that supports DIYers and leads them, step-by-step, through the most difficult cuts with ease. Simultaneously, this tool will complement any jobsite due to its durability and quality manufacturing, all at a great price point. Every user will appreciate the extra features loaded onto the saw, which include detents for nine common miter stops; a die cast aluminum fence with ruler markings to ensure quick accurate cuts every time; and a 40-tooth carbide blade that will cut through any material. The miter saw will be available at home improvement retailers nationwide in November with a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $179.99.
